Kevin moved from Hampstead, North Carolina, to Raleigh in 2017 and soon enrolled at Millbrook High School. It wasn’t until junior year that his path crossed with Aubrey’s. They shared two classes—Foods (a cooking class) and Lifetime (a physical education course). Kevin was also on the baseball team, and this is where he really caught Aubrey's eye. She promptly asked around, “Who’s the new kid?”
By senior year, nearly everyone had a driver’s license, and heading off campus for lunch had become a popular tradition. One day, a friend of Aubrey’s asked if a guy from the baseball team could join their lunch group. Aubrey happily agreed—unaware that the “guy” was Kevin. From that lunch on, a friendship quickly took root and began to blossom into something more.
On February 26, 2020, Kevin officially asked Aubrey to be his girlfriend. Just weeks later, the world shifted as COVID-19 disrupted daily life and cut their senior year short. Despite the uncertainty, their relationship only deepened as they navigated a relationship together beyond high school.
Kevin quickly became a part of Aubrey's family, and Aubrey fit right in with Kevin's five siblings and numerous childhood friends. They shared many family trips. Aubrey, her mom, and dad taught Kevin how to snowboard early on. Trips to the mountains became regular, whether it was Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia or Breckenridge, Colorado. Kevin taught Aubrey how to rig a fishing line, so long summer days were spent hooking largemouth bass together or deep-sea fishing in Key West - one of Kevin's favorite times spent together.
As the years passed, there was no doubting the love Kevin and Aubrey shared. Kevin's siblings always joked around that Kevin's first girlfriend would be the one he married...
On May 9, 2025, as Aubrey celebrated earning her Master’s degree, Kevin got down on one knee and proposed—surrounded by friends and family. Now, the couple is excited to celebrate their union with those who mean the most to them.
